New In The Studio - September 2018

I've always been under the notion once school started back up for kids, summer was officially over. It had nothing to do with the actual day of the season change. So, since Texas kids are all back in class, the busy season starts once again for me, and food cooked in a Crock Pot is a nessesity.

After a fairly quiet August, I've been able to get back into my space and work on some long-planned pieces of art. First up, MLK Jr., a portrait I've been wanting to do for a long time. The hardest part about making art, for me, is that I'm used to making art for a gallery show; some sort of deadline that forces me to crank out the work. I don't have those kinds of deadlines, at the moment, so making work for the hell of it poses its own challenge. However, It's been fun to make work just because. I'm re-learning some things about my creative process, in the process. Eventually, I'd like to have another gallery show in the near future, but that means I need to make the work. The MLK painting has a few more miles to go before being called 'finished', but it's coming along. Other proper portraits, such as MLK, are in the early stages, as well.

In addition to the new portraits, I'm also making more abstract serigraph prints to appease the 'graphic designer' part of me. I have a few more designs like this in the design vault, hopefully within the next few weeks I'll be able to get them on my print table. Look for this (and other serigraphs) to hit my web store soon.

In other news, the next several months are going to prove plenty busy and challenging, but I'll do my best to keep this space updated with studio updates. I'm currently in the process of enriching my prospects for an improved art career, which will require much of my time. There will need to be a healthy balance of work and play, so we'll see how this goes. If this space goes dark for awhile, no need for alarm.

Anyhoo, it's been great to keep the website updated as much as possible, lately. Don't know who actually reads any of this stuff, but you heard it here first.
