End of the Season...

August 27, 2019

Summer is officially over for me, but I'm very pleased to say how productive the last few months have been for me in the studio. Not only did I crank out a ton of new art (mostly collage work), I did get to relax a bit and enjoy some time out of town.

Speaking of collage, I had a great time arranging and gluing little pieces of 'paper legos' together to create interesting images, shapes, textures, etc. Below are two of my latest.

"For What It's Worth" / 5 x 7 inches.

"Smile" / 5 x 5 inches.

I'm not quite ready to graduate to making larger collages, just yet. I particularly like these smaller pieces, and these will eventually make they way into my next "5X7 - Volume 2" book (release date TBA). Some of the collages will actually serve as inspiration for some new paintings. However, if I'm not able to make a lot of new work for the rest of the year, I feel like I made enough over the Summer to cover the spread, as they say.

Not only did I make a ton of collage pieces, I did make some new paintings, or rather, finished a bunch that I started late last year; created and self-published my own art zine, made and sold some new Vend-A-Print pieces, made some new art friends, was commissioned to work on some soon-to-be-released vinyl record projects, and have been nominated for some fancy awards for my work on an Alice Cooper album release. I'm probably forgetting something, but needless to say, it's been a productive 2019, so far.

Anyhow, I can feel a slight tinge of Fall in the air here in Texas. I'm ready for sweater weather and finding time to make more art, despite a really busy schedule over the next few months. I'll do my best to update y'all with what's going on in the studio.

Cheers!
