New In the Studio - October 2019

Fall has officially arrived, but it still feels like Summer in Texas.
All-in-all, I had one of the most productive Summers in along time. I may have even mentioned that is the last update, but I'm still floored by the amount of creativity that poured out of me the last few months. Collage has been the name of the game, lately, and I'm still cranking out these little eye-catching masterpieces when I can find a few minutes. The nice part is, I'll be exhibiting many of these new collage pieces as a visiting artist with Maestri Gallery in Dallas. This is the first gallery work I'm exhibiting in a couple of years (long story), so it'll be nice to be in that atmosphere again.
What else is new...
Well, I am knee-deep into my second year of my MFA, and it's starting to get pretty hard and heavy. This semester I'll choose my thesis topic, but I have a ton of research and writing to do in order to narrow down what my focus will be. It's been a challenging semester, so far, but I think come mid-November, things will ease up some. There is just so much prep that goes into this thesis topics class, it is a challenge to juggle school duties, a full-time job, and a family at the same time. I keep doing my best to reassure myself it'll be all worth it in the end. I'm sure it will be. With that being said, I probably won't have much to update or post in the next few weeks. Much of my time and focus will need to be spent on my grad studies, so forgive me if things go quiet on my end for awhile. I promise to post an update after this semester wraps up.
But, before I go, I'll give y'all the run-down of what's been happening lately: Worked on another cool packaging design job for Sun Records; continued with more packaging design work for Good Records' "Alice Cooper: Live From the Astroturf" album and documentary; wrapped up an incredible exhibition at the Arlington Museum of Art in Arlington, TX; have work currently on exhibit as part of an alumni art exhibit at McMurry University in Abilene, TX; currently working on something special for the Dallas Mavericks basketball organization; trying to find time to do some letterpress and linocut printing; and now have some of my fine art work available through Saatchi Art (more coming soon.) All of this between grad studies, mind you.
Anyhow, I'll share more when the time comes. Until then, have a 'spooktacular' October, y'all!
