2019, That's A Wrap.

Hey y'all. Merry belated Christmas and Happy New Year!

I'm sure many of you are looking forward to tthe start of a new year and a new decade. I sure am. It's been a super-crazy-busy 2019, but in a good way.

Here is a little recap of events from the rest of the year, in no particular order:

Checked out Art Basel in Miami for the first time, which was fun, but was not ultimately impressed. Some of the other art shows during Miami Art Week were great, like Spoke and Ink Miami, which featred more up-and-coming artists and works on paper. I took away some inspiration, for sure, but next time I could spend less time to see all the art I want. I should say that 'modern pop art' sucks terribly. And to be qute honest, I no longer wish to associate myself with pop art, moving into 2020. I have other work I'd like to focus on. Oh, and I celebrated another trip around the sun, too. South Beach, despite the noise, is a fancy place to spend a birthday.

I also got to work on a special poster project for the Dallas Mavericks and their charity this year. Was a fun project to do and I had a great time attending the game. The game was a nice cap from a hectic week in Miami, as well. Sadly, I missed the last quarter, as I still had homework to finish and turn in for my last class of the semester. I'll have to hit up another basketball game before the end of the season to make up for it.

The halfway point of my grad school studies is upon me, and after a hella stressful and busy semester, I'm glad to be on a little bit of a break. In fact, a break from being creative was very much needed, too. It is difficult to be 'on' all the time, and initiating a hiatus from being creative is all part of the creative process. You constantly need to replenish the well, so to speak. Burnout is no joke.

I have a couple of side projects for people I'm currenty wrapping up, and I'm probably leaving out some things, but it has been such a busy year that I honestly don't remember everything that's gone down. Life will be just as busy for the next year and a half while I work on my MFA, career, and personal life, and it'll all fly by in a flash like 2019 did. However, whatever challenges, inspirations, loses and victories come my way, I'll be prepared. I'm looking forward to building upon this life, the art I've been creating the last six months, and seeing where the road takes me. I'll do my best to share the news as it happens.
