New Paper Legos
Like most artists I've been doing my best to stay creative and sane during this time of shelter-in-place. I'm less reliant on art sales to pay bills, these days, so I'm not facing the same kinds of financial struggles as most self-employed artists. But, I do have my own struggles, that's for sure.
I'm currently working with a small batch publisher in Ireland on a book collecting some of my recent collages, or...visual poetry. Below is a sneak peek at some of the work that will be featured.
It was difficult to go through and select what I think is the best of the best. Art is subjective, so I selected what I really like, but held back some stuff for later. The publisher has plenty to work with and I left the task to them to edit what they thought would work best for the book.
Looks like the book will see release later this summer. I'm leaning toward the title of "The New Age", which is sort of ironic, considering lots of my imagery of people, cars, and tother objects come from the 1950s.

"Sunday Driving"

"A Mild Suggestion"

"'53 Split"

"The Waiting"
I'll drop more news closer to the release date of the book, and make it available for pre-order once available. And perhaps, I'll make some of these original collage for sale at some point, too.
I'm really looking forward to the world getting back to 'normal' soon. It's been a whirlwind last few weeks, for sure, but we're (Sloan, me, and the cats) hanging in there. One thing is for sure, I'm looking forward to hitting up a tiki bar really soon.
