Collage Postcards from the Archive

I started dabbling in collage-making and design in 2018 just prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, but shifted much of my design focus to it when things got crazy and people had to go into lockdown. I was also in the midst of killer creative burnout and dealing with all of the trappings of graduate school at the time, so collage became my creative refuge and a bit of therapy.

Creating and mailing collage art postcards helped me a great deal, with the goal of bringing joy to someone's mailbox during these crazy times. It's something I'm still doing here and there, but as I've come out from under my burnout cloud and have my graduate studies behind me, I'm not mailing out as many postcards as I have been.

The bulk of my postcard college work takes place between 2020-2022, with a hefty amount relating to classic cars. I thought I'd share a few of them here. Each collage postcard measures 6 x 4 inches on chipboard. (I'm a fan of kraft paper and chipboard, so I use it often in my postcard collage work.) The back side of each postcard has a simple blanket statement sending the recipient well wishes along with the title of the piece.

It's been a lot of fun and joy sending these cards all over the world, something I hope to continue into my twilight years. Thankfully, I have scanned and archived each postcard design prior to mailing. At some point, I'll collect all of these images and put them into a book.
