Silent Film.

I haven't been very productive in the studio these last few weeks, but that is ok. Time permitting, I try to spend a few minutes in the studio every morning, even if just to make a quick, 2-minute collage. I had one of those '2-minute' mornings today, and as I later thought about the process and final image above, I figured this would make for the beginning of another interesting collage series.
The image sort of feels like something from a French existential-type film; a silent film, if it were., the kind I know nothing about but very much want to watch. "Silent Film" would make a great title for such a series, and I think I have hit on the next book project. I've been inspired by another collage artist, named Katrien De Blauwer, who bills herself as a 'photographer without a camera.' Her work has a very cinematic quality, a quality I really love, so I'm sure, subconsciously, the above collage (loosely titled "Walk Slowly") is inspired by De Blauwer's work. Look her up online and prepare to go down a wonderful rabbit hole.
You just never know when or where inspiration will strike. I'm thankful for those moments when they do, because inspiration can be fleeting. More and more book art project ideas seem to be piling up, lately, so I'm excited to take some time over the holiday shuffle to get started on some of them.
Twenty twenty-five was not the productive year I hoped it would be. Again, that's ok. A productive moment doesn't have to fit within a nice, neat number. It can be messy, chaotic, and out of order. As I go back and forth in my head about pushing forward on projects, or giving them up entirely, I need not make any irrational decisions on what my creative future holds. However, I can choose to create success when and where I see fit, and that is the beauty of being a creative.
Anyhow...I may have another update or two up my sleeve before the year is up. Only time will tell.
Cheers, in the meantime.
